The Hermit, card number 9 in the tarot deck, depicts an old man holding a lantern in one hand and a staff in the other.
Hermit’s staff refers to the level of spiritual knowledge he has attained, representing wisdom.
Notice how he illuminates his path with the lantern; he examines the facts thoroughly to make wise decisions.
Like the Lovers and Justice cards, this card is also about choices. It is about reflecting and using wisdom to make the best decision.
The Hermit and the wise decisions
The one who will give you the answer about the right deal you have to make with the Justice card is the Hermit. Because he illuminates the issue and looks closely. Moreover, he has a lot of experience.
The adult has to make the choices, not your inner child. The child does not choose wisely because they have no experience. When you make a deal with your inner child, you get too excited, ending up making a bad deal.
Every time you make bad deals, you will waste time. And Hermit is already too old; he has no time to lose. He shows us the importance of making choices at the right time because opportunities pass and may never come again.
The Hermit walks his life’s purpose path. Everyone who crosses his path is carefully analyzed (The Chariot card). He’s constantly questioning: is this person aligned with my life’s mission?
There's only one thing more precious than our time, and that's who we spend it on.
