Number as Archetype: Zero

From: $ 35.00

Supposedly, the number Zero is just a representation of a unit of value nil. But for Taoists and Pythagoreans, it’s interpreted to a greater extend. Centuries passed, and despite the delay, modern physics discovered that zero is the gateway to infinity.

The number Zero is a sacred number, as it relates to meditation, prayer, and Source Energy. It is the starting point, the eternity, infinity, oneness, wholeness, ongoing cycles, and flow.

The number Zero encloses the attributes of all numbers. It is both Alpha (the Starting) and Omega (the Highest), as there is no beginning and no end. All is infinite.

Voltaire proclaimed that “God is a circle whose center is everywhere and circumference nowhere.”

“Fancies may be as you please, but facts are as the Universe pleases.”
— Robert Kaplan, The Nothing that is – A natural history of zero.

So we can say that at the origin of the origin, there was an eternal principle, omnipresent and unlimited, that ultimately transcends the power of our minds. Due the lack of an appropriated denomination, the philosophical and religious traditions of the Extreme Orient called number zero Tao.

By 1770 BC, the Egyptians had a symbol for Zero in accounting texts. The symbol, meaning “beautiful,” was also used to indicate the base level in drawings of tombs and pyramids. They also measured distances relative to the baseline as being above or below this line.

Zero in Europe

The ancient Greeks had no symbol for the number Zero (μηδέν) and did not use a digit placeholder for it. They seemed hesitant about the condition of zero as a number. They asked themselves, “How can nothing be something?” This question led to philosophical and, during medieval times, religious arguments about the nature and existence of zero and the vacuum.

The Italian mathematician Fibonacci officially introduced the number Zero in Mathematics during the XII century. But in reality, the ancient sacred Numerology taught in the initiatory mysteries didn’t start with number one. It began with the symbolic Zero.

The Zero-circle represents, therefore, the potential of either what is still not, as for everything that already is, and that will be. It stands for potential and choice, with spiritual development. The number Zero is a reminder that you are one with the Universe.
